Sarah and Sabine

Yesterday we took advantage of a gorgeous late-fall day and met some friends at a playground. It sure looks like Blanden is holding his own on his end of the teeter-totter.
Despite the age and size difference -- 16 months and almost as many pounds -- Blanden and Sabine get along smashingly. They wanted to swing and teeter-tot (?) and play in the sand at the same time. During snack time Sabine cordially shared her string cheese and, in return, Blanden fed Sabine goldfish crackers each time she signed more. Awww, melting their mommas' hearts.
Today we met Susan, Sarah, and Baby Hannah back at Jumpin' Jordy's for more bouncing -- and it's good thing we picked an indoor activity because afterward we got caught in a hailstorm and Denver received it's first official snowflakes of the season. No pics at Jumpin Jordy's today, but here are Blanden and Sarah enjoying their teriyaki rice noodle bowls at Tokyo Joe's for lunch afterward, complete with chocolate milk and a cookie.

When we got out of the car at the bounce house, Blanden said to me, "Mommy, this is where Blanden saw the trees dancing." A couple weeks ago, during our first visit to Jumpin' Jordy's, it was very windy. As we were waiting in the car for our friends to arrive, Blanden told me the trees were dancing, a phrase I will treasure forever. Today it wasn't windy at all, yet he recognized the setting immediately and remembered.

Play Date

Getting reacquainted.

Sarah showing Blanden her fabulous new play space.

Today our friends Susan and Sarah invited us over for lunch and to play. They don't live too close to us, so unfortunately we don't get together as often as we'd like.
Susan and I met at Fulcrum and were pregnant at the same time together so we've spent the past year and a half or so swapping stories and advice on pregnancy and new motherhood. Sarah is 10 weeks older than Blanden -- she is going to be turning 1 in just a couple weeks! (How is that possible?!) Meaning that Blanden is not far behind.
The little ones had a great time getting reacquainted. Their "play dates" used to consist of time spent in their strollers on trips to the mall for Susan and I, when we were desperate to get out of the house and practice being moms in public. I think they had a lot more fun today! (And frankly, now that we're much more relaxed and approaching "experienced Mom" status, I'd say so did we!)
Happy early birthday, sweet Sarah!
