Pancakes for Dinner

Dad happened to be gone last night for dinner. Since Blanden likes breakfast foods a lot, and I like breakfast for dinner sometimes (and Dad does not), we dined on homemade blueberry pancakes.
And a little yogurt for good measure. (And don't worry, Dad: the Mrs. Butterworth's fake maple syrup in the foreground is always for Mommy -- my favorite, I can't help it. It's kind of like frosting. But Blanden gets the real thing.)

Unfortunately Blanden is a bit under the weather tonight so we didn't make it to music class. I picked him up a couple hours early from school as his teacher called and said he just didn't seem like himself. However, you would never know it from the way he is running around the house tonight, and dancing in circles in the living room, purposefully making himself dizzy so he either falls down or walks funny...Here's to hoping he's fully recovered and able to go back to school all day tomorrow.

Blueberry Pancakes!

Last weekend we bought a new range, which came with a griddle for the stove top. Ed enjoys being the family's head chef (whereas most of the time I specialize in being Ed's sous chef and the family baker), so the new appliance gave Ed a good excuse to make another fun food for Blanden to try: blueberry pancakes! As you can see, they were a big hit!

Ed's perfect pancakes on the griddle.
Blanden's first few bites ...

nice and neat.

And the mess grows!

And a BIG mess! Blanden's hands are now stained blue, as are mine and Ed's, and Blanden's booster seat is now in the wash. (And Ella and Belle say, "Wow, this keeps getting better and better!") But of course it was well worth it. This is the only kind of cake Blanden has had so far (but no syrup -- yet!).
