MLK Day at the Zoo

Daddy has the day off work and Mommy has the night off class so we decided to spend this sunny, 50-degree holiday at one of our favorite places: the zoo, of course.

Blanden waited until he was a year old to visit the zoo, but Ellis is already a veteran. He was content to spend most of the outing snug in his car seat, but he enjoyed getting out to see a few things too.

You can't see them, but here Blanden is looking at two big lions, which are right on the other side of the glass.

He got to touch the fur of a lion, hyena, and African wild dog.

It seems like Blanden has outgrown his Rockies hat and will be passing it down to his little brother this summer ...

so today Blanden got a new Denver Zoo cap.

Snack time.

Inside the aquarium, where they saw a dragon!

Just this weekend Blanden learned how to drink out of a straw so these little juice boxes (for snack time only) are a novelty.

And the requisite ride on the carousel -- this time on Mizzou the Tiger, for Dad.

We tried to go out to lunch afterward, but Blanden fell asleep immediately in the car so we came home and tucked him into bed. We had a great morning.

We know we've gotten behind on blogging lately. All is well here in the Wensuc household, we are just going about our daily lives. The biggest news is that little Ellis now has four teeth! His two top teeth have come in since New Year. He is eager to try out his new chompers on just about everything!
