Alamo Placita Park

From our house, if you head four long blocks north and two short blocks east, you arrive at the beautiful, bustling Washington Park, naturally one of our favorites not only in our neighborhood but in the city. Yet about equidistant in the opposite direction is a pocket park with a little playground in the Alamo Placita neighborhood. This past summer, it has become one of my favorites, primarily because little playgrounds attract little people. In between football games late Sunday afternoon, we headed over as a family.

Hmm, my reserved little boy is getting braver. He is not one to climb too high, jump off things, go down slides face first, or climb up them backward. Not yet, anyway ...

And just like his big brother at this age, slides are a favorite for Ellis. He can do this one almost all by himself: he climbs up the little stairs on the side, scoots himself over to the edge, and "wheees" his way down on the count of three.

Blanden likes this digger. The one in Wash Park is too tall for little people to maneuver on their own, but this one is just right.

And, of course, the swings. Ellis has always loved to swing ...

The boys tossed around the football (even Ellis got in on that action, with Ed "tossing" the ball to him from about one foot away), then we came home and ordered pizza for dinner, watched a little more football, and headed to bed. A nice Sunday.
