Swimming in February

Colorado is world-renown for its Winter Sports...but swimming? The Wensuc family headed to a local recreation center in Highlands Ranch for a refreshing swim, accompanied by laughs. The pool was setup perfectly so that Dad could easily watch and play with both boys simulataneously. Dad got a lot of help from Blanden's and Ellis's cousins, Jeremy and Gretchen. Please note the new swim suit gear courtesy of Mom. Mom had searched the stores for the perfect top and trunk combination. Mom selected a "Checkered-Flag, Lightening McQueen - Cars" matching swim suites. Blanden got a black top and Ellis got the red.

Ellis was quite curious of the water flowing into the pool from the floor. The pool was quite nice as you were able to walk into the pool similarily as you would a beach.

Ellis was quite content watching the older kids splash and kick water. As time passed though, Ellis did try floating on his back (which he quickly recalled from swim classes over a year ago).

Without question, the "Big Hit"for Blanden was the water slide shaped like a Frog's Head. Blanden literally went down the slide hundreds of times. The first few attempts there was some hestitation because the slide was remarkably fast for its size. Jeremy helped show Blanden "The Ropes" and served as "Spotter" on the first few maiden trips...

Soon, there was no holding Blanden back! Not only was Blanden fully independent (with the help of his preserver), but he discovered how to maximize this slide for speed and splash effect. Regrettably, I wasn't able to capture the sounds of laughter and squeals of joy.

Not content by sitting by the side of the pool, Ellis also his feet wet (...as welll as his head and entire body). Ellis loved playing catch with Gretchen. This was a great way to build-up an appetite that was to be later satisfied by a baked pasta dish prepared by Grandma.

Thank you Highlands Ranch family for your help and patience over this weekend. Your generosity is only matched by the size of you hearts. Thanks as well to Grandpa and Grandma for making the trek North from the Springs. " A Good Time Was Had By All", but selfishly, I think that Dad had the best time of everyone!
