Summer Vacation!

Yesterday was Blanden's last day of school (for a few months). Ed and I both dropped him off in the morning. Blanden presented his teachers with little boxes of candy and his classmates with mini cupcakes for a party later on in the afternoon. When I picked him up at the end of the day, there were many hugs all around -- and not just among the adults, but hugs for Blanden from some of his friends too. When Blanden returns in the fall, he'll be in a two-year-old classroom. We didn't take any pictures of his class, but here are a few from his own little celebration when he got home.

Ed had stopped by Costco on his way home from work and had left a box of ice cream cookie sandwiches sitting on the counter. Blanden has not had one of these before, but he knew immediately that it was a cookie and asked for one.
And how could we say no? He ate the whole thing! I don't think he's ever had two giant chocolate cookies before, let alone with ice cream on top!

Ed is officially on summer vacation as well (i.e., FMLA leave); not returning to work until after the Fourth of July. I am planning on working up until Ellis decides to make his appearance, but nevertheless, last night called for a celebration, so we all headed out for Italian and ate on the patio, enjoying this warm, sunny, beginning-of-summer weather.
