Little Pumpkins

What a lovely fall family day here in Colorado. We've been gearing Blanden up for Halloween, and celebrating a little along the way. As he is coming up on 2 1/2 years old, this seems to be the first holiday he is beginning to understand and getting excited for. Each day this month we've been crossing off the days on a little calendar, reading Halloween books, and talking about wearing costumes. A couple weeks ago we bought a pie pumpkin and made homemade pie and bread for him to try. We've also been promising a trip to a pumpkin patch, so today we went!
We're here!

We saw kittens and chickens, cows and sheep, a pony and a donkey, and goats. Blanden liked the goats the best ... possibly because they let him pet them.

Ellis's first trip to a pumpkin patch. (We have a photo of Blanden on his first trip to a pumpkin patch wearing this same outfit.)

When we walked into the patch, Blanden insisted on taking the first one -- and I mean the very first one -- we saw. Good thing it was a good one. But then we convinced him that we could browse around, have fun searching, and find some more just for the fun of it, and then he got into it.

So many to choose from.

Taking a little rest.
Blanden and Ellis's pumpkins. (Blanden convinced us we needed three, instead of just two as planned.)

A moment with Ellis.

So much for seeing how tall he is...
