Yesterday's "Adventure"

Yesterday morning Blanden said that he wanted to go on an "adventure." (I think he gets this from Grammy. :) ) So after his nap, that's exactly what we did. About a month ago, we decided to register for a year-long membership to the Denver Botanic Gardens. It is a beautiful park and another good outdoor outlet for exploring; a new children's garden recently opened; and Ed and I are hoping to go to a concert or two there this summer (fingers crossed that tickets don't sell out on the day the schedule is announced). In any case, today seemed like a good day to check it out.

We spent most of our time this afternoon in the new children's garden. Blanden liked the pint-size cave...

As well as a neat suspension bridge.

Running back and forth across it was a hit!

Most of these photos are of Blanden, but that is only because he is the only one currently running about. Ellis spent the time contentedly snugged up inside his stroller, quietly playing with his toys and taking in the fresh air. We assured him that in no time at all -- in fact surely by the end of the summer! -- he, too, will be exploring the children's garden on his own.

Back on the bridge.

Ready to attack Dad.

Remember the pure joy of rolling down hills as a child?

The concert amphitheatre was a great place for doing just that!

Enjoying a bit of "hot" (i.e., lukewarm) chocolate before heading home -- or, rather, before we all headed to our neighborhood Mexican restaurant for a quick, easy, yummy dinner to cap off the weekend.

Hopefully the afternoon lived up to Blanden's idea of an "adventure" -- and Ellis's too!
