Back to Book Club

After several months' hiatus (six, in fact), I returned to my book club tonight for the first time since Blanden was born.

It's not that we don't get out -- fairly regularly I meet my friends for coffee or cupcakes or (esp.) wine, :) as Ed loves to watch Blanden alone to give me a little break and have a little quality "Boys' Club" time together now and then, and just last Friday I was happy for Ed that he was able to take a break himself and go out with his friends for the evening.

So we definitely get out. It's just that I haven't been as interested in reading as much these days, as there are so many other fun things to do (all of which begin with a "B," of course).

But it was good to be back, to see old friends and meet a few new members and read a really good book (All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy).

But the best part about going to book club? Coming home to the two loves of my life. Seeing the two of them together just melts my heart every single time ...

Blanden, when Mom and Dad share your pictures, sometimes I think you look mostly like your Uncle Jim, sometimes like Dad, but when I see pictures of you sleeping, to me, you really look like your mom. I know that what happens in "Boys Club" is private between the guys, but from the looks of these picturs, I'd guess that first you two had a lot of fun, then you just "crashed on the sofa".
