Blanden's First Snow Day

We did, indeed, get somewhere between 8 and 12 inches of snow last night (not sure what the official end total was), and Blanden has his first official snow day! It was fun to check the local news website this morning and see his school listed. We didn't even set the alarm last night as we were sure that would be the case. I certainly wasn't driving out to my office in the foothills, where the weather is almost always worse, and Ed took the day off! So our morning began leisurely; Blanden loves to turn on his CD player in his room and read books quietly by himself for a half hour or so before he's ready to get up. We made homemade blueberry pancakes, bacon, and veggie sausage, for the appropriate parties, and then Ed and Blanden headed outside.

The guys spent at least an hour and a half outside, first with Blanden "helping" Ed to shovel the snow and then they went sledding around the neighborhood! Mommy was on a conference call, and taking photos while pulling Blanden in the sled would have been a bit much for Daddy, so no photos of the sledding, but Blanden had a blast! He is now napping, resting up for the second half of his snow day...Although the snow is already beginning to melt as the sun shines. The perfect spring storm.
